In 2006 one supermama, Corey Colwell-Lipson, (story here) got a brilliant idea which turned into a movement by 2010. By 2010 Corey’s idea had replaced one million pieces of candy with healthier and more sustainable treat options at events all across the U.S. Yay! Corey. It’s no wonder she is being nominated as one of the Most Awesome Mom Run Businesses of 2011 (please vote for her here).

My Mama’s Love would like to do something to say thank you to Corey, her idea, and her movement. We have comitted to donate 10% of all sales from now until October 31st to her non-profit Ecomom alliance. I challenge all other eco-friendly businesses to do something similar. Let’s stand behind this mama’s exhaustive effort to “think outside the conventional candy-box.” (her words) and raise our children to think outside it too.

If you’re having a hard time imagining an alternative to candy, let me help you. First, be sure to check out all the ideas offered on Green Halloween’s site. Second, if you want to give something that your neighborhood kids have not received before, but will love, consider our all-natural, organic, eco-friendly and eco-conscious Fixx-My-Lips. Normally I sell each container for $5.00, but in the spirit of helping spread the goodness of Green Halloween, I am taking a loss on this item when it’s purchased in bulk with the intention of handing out to trick-or-treaters. I can’t even begin to say how awesome My Mama’s Love has been for us! To start with, Leslie has been so great about talking about the products, hearing what your needs are and suggesting a product to help. My 8 month old son has a plethora of sensitivities: gluten, dairy and soy are the ones we know. He constantly is battling rashes or gets that regular baby dry skin, and Complete Skin Ailment Curative is our go-to. Even prescribed cream has bothered him, but this is soothing, and helps the redness.

My husband works as a chef, and is therefore constantly being splashed with boiling liquids or bumping into hot equipment. Since he started carrying Burn Out in his pocket, his burns are quickly soothed, and are much less likely to scar.

Lastly, Mama’s Fixx-My-Lips is the BEST. As a lip-gloss addict, this was the first balm that made my lips feel awesome, wasn’t sticky, gooey, and (as I am the average forgetful momma) doesn’t ruin my laundry with grease stains when I accidentally forget to take it out of my pocket before washing.

If you’re not a fan on Facebook, you missed out on our most recent giveaway: 250 jars of lip balm. My Mama’s Love is testing two new lip balm flavors: Vanilla and Vanilla-Mint. My personal favorite is Vanilla-Mint, and the feedback has been all positive on this one. I’m pretty sure we’ll be adding this to the line shortly, but am waiting to get a little more feedback first.

Personally, I don’t like the vanilla, but vanilla has never really been my thing. Not a lot of feedback has come in on it, so the jury is still out. I’ll keep you posted.

Fixx-My-Lipz should taste delicious, like an orange lifesaver or a candy cane. If your lip-balm doesn’t taste good when you get it, please let us know and we’ll replace it right away. If your lip-balm stops tasting good after you’ve had it for a while, it’s because the flavored oils have evaporated. Heat and leaving the container open will speed up this process of evaporation. You have two choices: you can add some of your own flavor to the lip-balm or you can start using it as an all-purpose cream instead. Fixx-My-Lipz is flavored Complete Skin Ailment Curative, so it’s applications are vast. Use it on drool rashes, eczema, dry skin or just about any skin ailment you have.
