My Mama’s Love Skincare {Review and Giveaway}

I am always looking for the most natural and effective Skin Care products for my family and I am truly impressed with my latest find: My Mama’s Love. Each product is hand-made in the US and is completely organic and chemical free. My Mama’s Love products contain only the most pure and natural ingredients and are amazingly effective for healing and relieving a variety of skin conditions. My Mama’s Love products are ideal for those with allergies or sensitivities and are free of parabens, fragrance, yeast, gluten, dairy, soy, corn, and eggs.

I was sent the wonderful Baby Gift Set from My Mama’s Love and I have really enjoyed trying everything out. The Kit contains three of their best selling items; Burn Out, Complete Skin Ailment Curative, and Lullaby Love. It would make a thoughtful and useful shower gift for new parents and is also just a great kit to buy for stocking your own medicine cabinet with natural essentials. I was also sent a jar of the popular natural decongestant rub Mama Nose Best.

Complete Skin Ailment Curative: This versatile balm is definitely a must have in any natural mama’s home. I have been using it daily to help clear up a variety of skin issues on all three of my girls and it works great. I especially love the amazing results I have seen with my youngest’s diaper rash. She has sensitive skin and always has a diaper rash, but after only a day of using My Mama’s Love Complete Skin Ailment Curative the redness and pain disappeared. I have also been using it on rashes and eczema on myself and my older girls and I am really happy with the results. Its a completely hypoallergenic and gentle (with organic licorice and myrrh) way to relieve diaper rash, nipple thrush, bug bites, eczema, cradle cap and so much more. Check out all of the great testimonials of this product on My Mama’s Love.com and on her facebook reviews. This skin balm has a huge following and I can see why.

Lullaby Love: I have really been enjoying My Mama’s Love Relaxing Massage Ointment- Lullaby Love. It smells so good (like coconut and lavender) and is a wonderfully natural massage ointment for babies, kids, or adults. The relaxing lavender combined with gentle massage is a great way to calm and sooth- and the organic virgin coconut oil makes skin soft and healthy. It is very gentle and is especially perfect for infant massage. I have been using it on my toddler to help her relax before bedtime and it works great to naturally calm and sooth her.

Burn Out :This ointment contains lavender and eucalyptus to naturally sooth and help heal minor burns. I love this product and keep mine in the kitchen, where it can quickly be grabbed for my little cooking mishaps. It melts upon contact with skin and has a cooling effect that quickly relieves burn pain. Its a great addition to any first aid kit and is also very effective for healing and soothing sunburns.

Tis the season for coughs and colds, so I am also so thankful that My Mama’s Love also sent me a jar of Mama Nose Best. Referred to by My Mama’s Love as the “Vicks without the icks” (so cute) this balm is a great natural alternative to vapor rub. It doesn’t contain any of scary ingredients found in traditional petroleum based decongestants, and it works even better. This all natural decongestant uses the power of natural essential oils of lavender, wintergreen, peppermint, and eucalyptus. I have been rubbing it on my little ones chest and neck all week to help with her night time stuffy nose and cough and it has been working amazingly well. Last night she jumped into bed with it in hand- asking mom to help fix her stuffy nose. It also works great for my indoor allergies!

As you can probably tell from my review I am really amazed by My Mama’s Love. It is such a great company with so much integrity and heart. Like all of the best companies, it was born out necessity. This mom owned business started when Leslie became frustrated by the lack of truly natural products to heal her daughters persistent skin problems. She got to work and created her own recipes based on effective and completely gentle ingredients. She has since been growing her product line, while keeping her commitment to provide affordable, clean, eco-friendly, hypoallergenic, and completely chemical free products. I wholeheartedly recommend this company and I know I will be buying these products for years to come.

Shop: A comprehensive line of natural skin care for pretty much all that ails you can be found online at MyMama’sLove.com or at these Washington State retailers. The must-have Baby Gift Set reviewed above can be purchased in three different sizes, with prices starting at just 13.95 for all three products. The super-effective decongestant; Mama Nose Best comes in child and adult strength and retails for $10 for a large jar.

My Mama’s Love Organic Skin Care Review

http://notnewtoautism.blogspot.com/2010/01/my-mamas-love-organic-skin-care-review.html

I have had eczema all of my life. One of my children apparently inherited that vulnerability from me. She happens to be the child with an autism diagnosis.

The more I learn about toxins, the less I want gasoline on my skin. Every time I read the ingredient “petrolatum” or “petroleum” on a label, an image of a gas pump pops into my mind.

For years, I used prescription and over-the-counter steroid products on my eczema. The minute I stopped, the rash returned. Seems the steroid temporarily suppressed my rashy reaction, but didn’t cure the rash. Now, I know that the skin is the largest organ, and it is important for detoxification. Rashes are viewed as part of the detoxification process by some alternative and complimentary professionals who don’t advocate suppressing a rash with a steroid cream.

Still, my skin and my daughter’s skin is dry, and, while we’ve gotten a handle on the foods that contribute to our eczema, we still need a soothing something, sometimes, a soothing something that does not contain chemicals, certain allergens like soy or sunflower, and that is organic.

I’ll stop right now and make a disclaimer: I am not a doctor and this is not medical advice.

I am a mom who has struggled with eczema my whole life who avoids products like petroleum jelly and Vick’s Salve because of the petroleum, but who misses petroleum jelly and Vick’s Salve. I’m a mom who has wasted spent lots of time in supermarket, health food store, and department store aisles reading labels on lotions and ointments, trying to find a skin care product that is organic, contains no chemicals, and no products on our list of allergens.

Leslie McCann is a mom who understands. She created a concoction for a child, who like me and my daughter, is challenged with painful and itchy rashes. She came up with an entire line of organic, chemical free products. And now McCann is making her products available to moms like me.

Allow me to introduce to you her company and product, My Mama’s Love.

Leslie McCann sent me at no charge, in order to review, a 1.7 oz jar of Complete Skin Ailment Curative; a 1.7 oz jar of Mama Nose Best; and two .50 oz tins of Fixx-My-Lipz, one peppermint flavored and one orange flavored. The full product line is here., with lists of ingredients, which you can browse from the comfort of your computer. Shop here.

Complete Skin Ailment Curative is priced at $9.oo for a 1.7 oz jar.
Mama Nose Best is priced at $10 for a 1.7 oz jar.
Fix My Lipz are $3.50 per .50 oz screw-top tin.

I like the products that McCann sent me. The nature of the oils she used in each formulation means a little goes a long way. There are no chemicals or artificial ingredients, and the jars are glass. (Plastic means more exposure to toxins. From what I’ve read as I’ve researched, glass containers are better.) Remember when Vick’s Salve used to come in heavy glass jars? They’re heavy — McCann wrapped them well — and the cost of shipping concerns me, but I locate the bubble-wrap-lined-envelope and shipping on the package of four items that McCann sent me is under three dollars. McCann tells me that “the .50 and .85 ounce sizes are $1.50 to ship and the 1.70 and 4.0 ounce sizes are $2.00 to ship.” The company facebook page mentions a new option to recycle their containers for reuse.

I am tickled to pieces to find a Vick’s Salve / Mentholatum substitute! I missed those products. My husband, whom I very rarely include in my blog (his preference), tells me matter-of-factly as I am playing with the jar of Mama Nose Best, that, “Vick’s is all about the scent.” when I tell him it’s an organic and chemical free substitute for Vick’s Salve. (He misses Vick’s, too, I think.) I opened the jar of Mama Nose Best for him to sniff — he says it’s pretty good. ;) He generously gave me permission to share that with you. (He is testing the Complete Skin Ailment Curative with me, too.) The scent of Mama Nose Best is more subtle than the store petroleum brands and I like the hint of mint in it. Mint is not as strong as eucalyptus. I used it on my sore nose this week during a bad cold/cough, and I rubbed it on my chest at night. It’s nice! ;) Mama Nose Best is scented with essential oils (not synthetic scents).

I’m using the Complete Skin Ailment Curative on some stubborn dry spots that tend to flake. It does not break out my skin or irritate my skin and it’s soothing. It’s firmer at room temperature and melts in my hand. I use it at night, and yes, I feel an improvement in my skin. I need to get in a routine of using it every night.

Fixx-My-Lips lip balm is soothing, not too heavy, and the peppermint flavor is not too minty. One natural brand from a trendy specialty store known for natural products is too minty and burns my lips — Fixx-My-Lips does not give me that burning sensation. I prefer a stick of balm, but the ingredients in Fixx-My-Lips are probably not firm enough to make a stick. I gave the orange flavored Fixx-My-Lips balm to my middle schooler. She likes it and says it soothes her lips.

I like products made by moms, particularly when those moms understand our situation because they live it, too.

If you’re avoiding petroleum products, looking for natural and organic, and have a long list of allergens to avoid, check out My Mama’s Love Organic Skin Care – Leslie McCann’s probably got a product that fits your needs.

Testimonial & Review of Mama Nose Best

Mama Nose Best Review by Coping with Frugality

http://copingwithfrugality.blogspot.com/2010/12/mama-nose-best-review.html

Cold season is in full swing and baby girl and I have each had a few colds already.  Nothing major, just the stuffy, runny, sneezy nose type!  I had received some baby Vicks to use in these situations, but I really was cautious about using something that wasn’t completely natural.  Then I did some research…YIKES!!

Parents should not apply Vicks VapoRub, the salve used to relieve symptoms of cough and congestion, to children under the age of two, doctors warn. Vicks has been said to cause breathing problems in babies. Vicks contains ingredients that “can be irritants, causing the body to produce more mucus to protect the airway,” according to a doctor who has been doing studies on the product. In a study released by the Wake Forest University of Medicine (in North Carolina), pediatricians warn that the ingredients of Vickscould turn out to be harmful for young children and babies. The reason for this is that it can cause severe respiratory distress when applied

Thank goodness I found My Mama’s Love!! They make a great product called Mama Nose Best that they call it Vicks without the “ick”. Mama Nose Best is an all-natural alternative to the petroleum decongestants on the market today. Mama Nose Best is organic, all-natural and non-toxic. It’s a fantastic remedy for stuffy noses, congested breathing and phlegmy coughs.  Leslie provided me with a jar of this Mama Nose Best to try and it is wonderful.  It worked for both baby girl and myself when we were super stuffed up, and it was great knowing that it was safe for both of us to use!

A review of our products

My Mama’s Love {Review + Giveaway}

http://www.talesofthewife.com/2010/12/my-mamas-love-review-giveaway.html

I’m always on the look out for safer, more natural products for my family. My Mama’s Love is founded by a mom who was also searching for better products for her family, specifically her daughter.

My Mama’s Love uses certified organic ingredients to create gentle & effective products. The shop contains items for mom, dad & baby.

We were fortunate enough to review three products from My Mama’s Love!

The first product, called Lullabye Love, is my favorite. Bug gets a little massage before bed each night to help him relax. I used the Lullabye Love the same day that I received it. I rubbed a little of the lavender-infused ointment into his chest.

I know so many other factors play into this but he SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT! The ointment definitely relaxes him. The smell is pleasant and apparently quite potent. He is currently teething so any assistance in the relaxation department we can get is heaven.

We are also using Kiss My Boo Boo for scrapes, scratches, rashes & other skin issues. It comes in a twist up tube & works as a great moisture barrier. You can even use it as chapstick or to keep runny noses & drool from making skin raw. No worries about petroleum, mineral oil or parabens in this product! I keep this in our diaper bag now.

Mama Nose Best has really come in handy as the boys have been struck with colds this week. There is both an adult version & a slightly less potent formula for kids.

The cold is especially difficult for Bug since I can’t offer him any relief other than saline & suctioning. Mama Nose Best (Kids) applied to his feet before bed has helped immensely with his cough. I even put a little in the humidifier to help open up Bug’s congestion.

The ingredients include Peppermint oil to help clear the respiratory tract and Wintergreen oil, an anti-spasmodic, to help with cough. Lavender & Eucalyptus oils increase the effects of this ointment to help decrease congestion & cough.

Products for parents include Nipple Nurture, Acne Attack Kits & Fixx My Lips. And I also have to mention the Happy Sacks product for jock itch. Love the name.

My Mama’s Love offers a recycling program for your empty MML containers. Simply return the container & you will receive free shipping on your next order!

A review of Bug Off Me by My Mama’s Love

I dread using chemical laden products on my family, especially products containing DEET. Unfortunately, dangerous mosquito-born illness in Central Florida is a very real risk this summer so it is crucial to find a bug repellent that is effective. Thankfully, I had the chance to try an organic and all natural bug repellent called “Bug-Off-Me” by My Mama’s Love. This family owned business began in 2004 to meet the skin care needs of their daughter so I was eager to give it a try.

“Bug-Off-Me” (paraben and preservative free) worked wonderfully and the fresh herbal scent was an added bonus. The first opportunity that we had to use it was one evening when the kids wanted to swim in our pool after dark which is prime time for mosquito bites. I applied Bug-Off-Me on the entire family and even a few drops around the pool area. After over an hour of pool time, I inspected everyone and there were NO bites.

The next time we used it was while hiking through our swampy State Park. I was most concerned about ticks so once again I applied it to the entire family, including our dog. I applied it once in the morning and again in the afternoon. Even though the bottle states to apply liberally, I was impressed by how small of an amount actually needed to be used to be effective. We are a family of five (plus our boxer) and used the product on four separate occasions, including reapplications with over half a bottle still left. Once again, no bug bites and no ticks.

“Bug-Off-Me” is a wonderful blend of all natural and organic ingredients, including tea tree, citronella, lavender, eucalyptus, lemon and lemon grass. My daughter and son have very sensitive skin due to eczema and there was no irritation of the skin at all. In fact, my daughter usually screams in pain anytime a new product is tried on her skin but she didn’t mind it at all and said “this smells really good” as she helped rub it into her skin. For those people who suffer from allergies, “Bug-Off-Me” is dairy, soy, corn, egg, gluten and yeast free.

If you are concerned about protecting your family not only from pesky insects but from potentially harmful chemicals too then “Bug-Off-Me”  is the product for you.
